Occupational Therapy

PPL’s main focus is to promote independence with the activities of daily living.

This may include self care, as well as skills that go beyond that, such as shopping and money management.

Since it is a priority to have individuals experience a natural environment, in addition to their clinical environment, PPL occupational therapists seek to integrate the people they support with the community whenever possible.

The appropriate occupational therapy for each individual is designed after a comprehensive initial evaluation, which assesses the person’s physical, cognitive and functional capabilities.

Based on the results of the evaluation, therapy might take the form of training in self-care, mobility or communication. In some cases adaptive equipment and assistive technology may be called for, or household modifications to ensure the individual’s safety while visiting at home.

PPL looks at the person as a whole to determine what they need.
